Hello Everyone,

Thank you one and all for your continued support. We had an amazing turnout at the open house and at the County Commission hearing. Thank you also for all of your letters to the County Commissioners and your efforts to spread the correct information regarding the redevelopment of the Village Mall.

Please continue to ask friends and neighbors to email the Commissioners. The opposition has stated its intent to delay the process by having the project sent back to the Planning Commission. If the project is sent back to the Planning Commission, we can expect a long delay. Any delay in adoption of the zone will delay economic relief for the community. While the opposition may argue that there have been changes to the code, the changes reflect agreements between SROA and SilverStar that “conform” the zone language to a project that does not immediately involve all 26 acres of Sunriver commercial property. These changes are minor and do not require a revisit by the Planning Commission. The County Commission has the jurisdiction to make these decisions, and another round with the Planning Commission will only serve to embolden a divisive opposition and delay the ultimate solution planned for the Village Mall.

Additionally, please send letters to the editor of the Bend Bulletin, who can be reached at bulletin@bendbulletin.com, and to the Sunriver Scene, which can be reached at brooke@sunriverowners.org. You can refer to the talking points on this website for topics to include in your email.

Also, please email all SROA Board members indicating your support for SilverStar’s plans to redevelop the Village at Sunriver. It is important for the Board to hear from us. Board members email addresses can be found on the Citizens For Sunriver Web site as well.

The Power Point contains extremely valuable information that will give you lots of great talking points. It clearly illustrates why the Village needs to be revitalized with a mixed-use design.
